Luxembourg's advanced infrastructure and central European location make it an ideal base for WEDOS’s global expansion.
As part of WEDOS' global expansion strategy, founder Josef Grill explains the company has moved its headquarters to Luxembourg to benefit from its supportive and business-friendly environment, advanced digital infrastructure and strategic position in the heart of Europe.
Josef Grill: WEDOS, originally founded in the Czech Republic in 2010, began as a provider of web hosting, VPS (Virtual Private Servers), and dedicated server solutions. In response to the global rise in cybersecurity threats and personal experience with such threats, WEDOS has shifted its focus toward cybersecurity solutions under the brand WEDOS Global, aiming to provide a worldwide cybersecurity solution. This division now operates an extensive global network with over 120 Points of Presence (PoPs) worldwide, including a significant presence in Luxembourg. WEDOS Global has gained traction with clients such as large corporations, hosting providers, government institutions, and state ministries worldwide.
A key strength of WEDOS Global lies in its easily deployable, cutting-edge cybersecurity solution. It is especially potent in mitigating distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks and ensuring continuous availability of digital services. DDoS attacks have become one of the biggest threats to the survival of companies and Governments in the digital world. Lately the majority of incidents are orchestrated by pro-Russian hacktivist groups. By offering highly effective defence mechanisms, WEDOS Global protects businesses and governments from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, easing the mind of its users in today’s cyber landscape.
JG: As a part of its global expansion and general strategy, WEDOS has decided to move its headquarters to Luxembourg. The decision to move is driven by significant differences in the business environments of the respective countries. While taxes in the Czech Republic may be lower, bureaucratic hurdles have made it increasingly difficult for companies and entrepreneurs to advance.
In contrast, Luxembourg offers a much more supportive and business-friendly atmosphere. In Luxembourg, businesses are seen as essential building blocks of the economy. The country actively encourages growth and innovation, understanding that a thriving private sector is crucial for the state's prosperity. This positive, forward-thinking environment makes Luxembourg an attractive destination for WEDOS. The country also provides access to advanced digital infrastructure and is strategically positioned in the heart of Europe, making it ideal for WEDOS’s international growth. This will open doors to new business opportunities and partnerships with both public and private sector clients.
JG: WEDOS aims to use its extensive global infrastructure to deliver secure and scalable services to businesses in Luxembourg and across the globe. WEDOS Global’s network of PoPs will be integral to this strategy, offering enhanced cybersecurity capabilities.
In Luxembourg specifically, WEDOS intends to install more Points of Presence (PoPs), which will not only enhance cybersecurity but also provide comprehensive protection for the entire nation’s infrastructure. These new PoPs will not only bolster national security by defending against cyberattacks but also contribute to the broader digital infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted internet service. In the event of a large-scale cyberattack, Luxembourg’s internal networks will remain secure and operational. The external traffic will be routed through WEDOS’s international PoPs, creating a robust shield for the country.
This strategic expansion aims to safeguard businesses of all sizes, providing high uptime, data protection, and scalable cybersecurity solutions in response to the growing global demand for cloud services and digital security
