«Meet the Drapers» 우승기업 Exobiosphere, 한국과의 협력 및 성장 모색

룩셈부르크의 우주 생명공학 기업 엑소바이오스피어(Exobiosphere)가 "Meet the Drapers"에서 100만 달러 투자를 유치하여 우주 기반 신약 개발을 가속화하게 되었다. ”Meet the Drapers“는 신생 기업들이 벤처 자본가(투자자) 패널 앞에서 비즈니스 아이디어를 발표하는 미국의 리얼리티 TV프로그램이다. 전 세계 수천 명의 지원자 중에서 엑소바이오스피어(Exobiosphere) 유망한 스타트업들과 함께 3차례에 걸친 치열한 경쟁 끝에 전설적인 투자자인 팀 드레이퍼로부터 100만 달러의 투자를 유치하며 최종 우승을 차지했다. 

* ”Meet the Drapers“는 신생 기업들이 유명한 투자자 드레이퍼 가족을 포함한 투자자들 앞에서 아이디어를 피칭하고 토너먼트식으로 진행하는 프로그램이다. 각 국가에서 선발된 기업들은 실리콘밸리에서 파이널라운지를 하게 되고 최종 선발된 기업은 팀드레이퍼의 투자 받을 수 있는 기회까지 갖게 된다.

한국기업 (주)보령과의 인연으로, Exobiosphere는 한국 진출을 준비하고 있으며, 지난 3월에는 여러 한국 기관들과의 미팅을 위해 CEO가 직접 한국을 방문했다. 또한, 오는 6월 대전에서 열리는 2026 국제 우주컨퍼런스(ISS 2026: International Space Summit 2026)에서 룩셈부르크 국가관에도 참가할 예정이다.  

 미세 중력을 활용해 신약 후보물질을 검증하는 서비스를 제공하는 룩셈부르크 기반의 스타트업 ‘엑소바이오스피어(Exobiosphere)’사는 이미 2024년도에 국내 (주)보령의 글로벌 우주의학 경진대회 "휴먼인스페이스 (Human In Space)"에서 우승하여 200만 유로 규모의 시드 투자를 유치한 이력이 있다.

Luxembourg based Exobiosphere, a space biotechnology company, won a $1 Million Investment on Meet the Drapers, the globally broadcast venture capital competition created and hosted by billionaire investor Tim Draper. "Meet the Drapers" is an American show that features entrepreneurs from around the world pitching to a panel of investors and celebrity judges, with the winner receiving a $1 million investment from Draper.  From 1000’s of applicants worldwide, Exobiosphere competed across 3 rounds alongside some of the most promising startups globally and came out on top.

Exobiosphere is preparing to enter the Korean market through its relationship with the Korean company Boryung Co., Ltd. In March 2026, Exobiosphere’s CEO visited Korea for meetings with various Korean organizations. In addition, Exobiosphere is scheduled to participate in the Luxembourg Booth set up by the Luxembourg Embassy in Seoul and its Trade and Investment Office at the International Space Summit 2026 (ISS 2026), which will be held in Daejeon this coming June.

Exobiosphere develops microgravity based High-Throughput Screening device and bioinformatics software to enhance the accuracy of in vitro disease models, addressing the high cost, long duration, and high failure rates in drug development. Exobiosphere also won the Human In Space (HIS) Challenge in 2024 hosted by Korean company "Boryung". Exobiosphere secured a €2M seed round led by Expansion Ventures and Expon Capital, with participation from Boryung and Space Data Inc.
