At the centre of the EU market

Globally connected economy

Luxembourg stands out for its open economy, central European location and highly international population. The country is an excellent base for business expansion across the EU market

Central European location

Luxembourg is well positioned for business expansion in the heart of Europe. It borders two of the EU’s main consumer markets, France and Germany.

60% of the EU’s GDP can be reached within a two-hour flight from the airport located just 15 minutes from the centre of Luxembourg City. The country benefits from its proximity to major cities such as:
  • Brussels (200 km)
  • Frankfurt (250 km)
  • Amsterdam (360 km)
  • Paris (380 km – 2 hours by high-speed train)

International workforce

Luxembourg has three official languages: Luxembourgish, German and French. English is widely spoken and frequently used in the business community. Companies can be established in French, German or English (with a French or German translation).

With 74% of the Luxembourg workforce made up of foreigners, it is easy to recruit staff with the language skills and cross-cultural experience needed for doing business internationally.

Bridging markets and business cultures

As a strategic crossroads for European interaction for centuries, Luxembourg has a natural tendency to serve as a bridge between different business cultures. Having a base here makes it easy to build good business relations across the EU without language and cultural barriers.
