From 13 to 15 April 2026, H.R.H. the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Xavier Bettel and Minister of Finance Gilles Roth, visited New York as part of a high‑level mission aimed at reinforcing economic relations between Luxembourg and the U.S.

The visit coincided with the 12th edition of the Luxembourg‑American Business Award. H.R.H. presented this distinction to the American company “Plastipak”, in recognition of its commitment to Luxembourg through its subsidiary “LuxPET”.

Plastipak Inc. Honoured for Circular Economy Leadership

Established in Luxembourg since 1998, the company specialises in PET bottle and preform production and plays a significant role in food‑grade PET recycling, contributing to the development of the circular economy and the sustainable use of plastic materials.

Previous recipients of the award include Amazon, Goodyear, Guardian, Avery Dennison Corporation, Husky Injection Molding Systems, Delphi Corp, Airtech Advanced Materials Group, Ampacet Corporation, DuPont, and RedWire, operating in Luxembourg.

In his address at the award ceremony, H.R.H. the Grand Duke reaffirmed Luxembourg’s strong commitment to free trade and a rules‑based multilateral system, emphasising the importance of fairness, predictability, and stability in international economic relations. He highlighted Luxembourg’s open economy, high‑quality infrastructure, and long‑standing partnership with the United States.

Minister Xavier Bettel stressed that maintaining Luxembourg’s attractiveness for international investors remains a key priority for the government. He noted that many American companies are already established in Luxembourg, while others are considering expansion, and reaffirmed Luxembourg’s role as a gateway to the European market for U.S. businesses.

In addition to the award ceremony, the visit provided opportunities for meetings with U.S. companies, further strengthening economic dialogue and identifying new avenues for cooperation.
