Coinbase has secured its MiCA licence from Luxembourg’s financial supervisory authority, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF). This licence allows Coinbase to consolidate its presence across the EU into a unified, regulated framework, enabling it to offer its full suite of crypto products and services to more than 450 million people across all 27 EU member states.

Luxembourg was selected as the location for the company’s MiCA hub, underscoring the country’s strategic role in the European financial ecosystem and its long-standing commitment to innovation and regulatory clarity. Coinbase highlighted Luxembourg’s proactive approach to digital finance, including the passage of four blockchain-related laws and a whole-of-government policy strategy to support distributed ledger technologies.

“By choosing Luxembourg, we’re positioning ourselves in a jurisdiction that understands the needs of the crypto industry and excels in regulatory clarity,” said the company in its statement.

The announcement is a further boost to Luxembourg’s growing role in the digital asset space and highlights the country’s position as a gateway for global financial institutions seeking regulated access to the EU market.
