In a landmark transaction announced in October 2025, Lynk Global and Omnispace revealed plans to merge, forming a powerhouse in direct-to-device (D2D) connectivity — and SES will become a “major strategic shareholder” in the combined entity.
SES is taking a leading role in the next evolution of mobile connectivity through its strategic investment in the newly announced Lynk Global / Omnispace merger. The deal, unveiled in October 2025, will combine Omnispace’s globally coordinated S-band spectrum and Lynk’s pioneering direct-to-device (D2D) satellite technology — enabling standard smartphones to connect directly to satellites.
As a major strategic shareholder, SES will contribute its multi-orbit expertise, ground infrastructure and regulatory experience to help the new entity scale its services globally. This move strengthens SES’s position in the fast-growing D2D and IoT markets while aligning with its broader strategy to diversify beyond traditional broadcast and enterprise segments.
“We see enormous opportunities in D2D and IoT connectivity,” said Adel Al-Saleh, CEO, SES. “The planned combination of Lynk and Omnispace will offer SES access to new LEO capabilities that align with our strategy to diversify into this high-growth segment. This merger pairs an industry-leading global spectrum portfolio with a disruptive cost-effective satellite technology platform – accelerating deployment and delivering significant value to our commercial and government customers.”
SES will facilitate and enable the accelerated rollout of global direct-to-device (D2D) and IoT services as part of a multi-orbit, multi-spectrum network architecture.

For Luxembourg, SES’s participation reinforces the country’s reputation as a hub for space innovation and global connectivity. The merger is expected to close by early 2026, marking a major milestone in bridging the gap between terrestrial and satellite networks — and extending mobile coverage to even the most remote regions.
