Luxembourg-based Space Cargo Unlimited announced a €27.5 million funding round – Europe’s largest Series A for in-space manufacturing.
Space Cargo Unlimited (SCU), Luxembourg-headquartered pioneer in orbital manufacturing, today announced it has raised €27.5 million in a Series A funding round — making it the largest Series A in Europe focused on in-space manufacturing to date.
The round was led by Expansion Ventures and saw participation from Eurazeo, the European Innovation Council, the European Investment Bank, the Luxembourg Future Fund II, and various private investors raised via Tudigo’s crowd equity platform.
This mix of public and private support underscores a broader European commitment to building sovereign capabilities in space, particularly in high-value manufacturing beyond Earth.
As the International Space Station (ISS) approaches end-of-life, SCU views its mission as alleviating a critical bottleneck: reliable access to microgravity environments for research and production.
Under microgravity, novel materials, advanced pharmaceuticals, and precision electronics can be manufactured or tested in ways impossible on Earth. SCU aims to translate those capabilities into “differentiated, high-value products” for terrestrial markets spanning pharmaceuticals, new materials, electronics, and agriculture.
Central to SCU’s offering is its BentoBox platform — a modular, autonomous, return-capable orbital laboratory and manufacturing facility.
BentoBox is designed to be both flexible and accessible: scientists, entrepreneurs, and space agencies can send experiments or manufacturing payloads, control their operations in orbit, and bring them back to Earth when done. This model is intended to democratize access to orbital R&D and production.
