The Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office (LTIO) is recruiting 1 Economic Advisor
Permanent contract, starting on November 1st, 2025 - 40 hours/week
The Economic Advisor will work under the guidance and authority of the Consul General and Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in San Francisco (LTIO-SF). The role supports LTIO-SF’s mission of facilitating trade, investment, and business development between Luxembourg and the Western half of the United States.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting American companies and organizations in LTIO-SF’s jurisdiction
- Provide information and advice on Luxembourg’s business environment and sector-specific opportunities.
- Offer assistance and guidance for setting up operations or expanding in Luxembourg.
- Facilitate connections with key stakeholders in Luxembourg, including government authorities and agencies, financial and business representative organizations, potential partners, incubators/accelerators, the University of Luxembourg, and research centers.
- Organize tailor-made visiting programs in Luxembourg.
- Promote relevant programs, events, and business opportunities in Luxembourg to targeted businesses and organizations.
Assisting Luxembourg companies
- Assist Luxembourg-based companies in expanding to the Western U.S. by providing information, relevant events and conferences to attend and market insights.
- Facilitate introductions to relevant stakeholders in LTIO-SF’s jurisdiction, including government and local authorities, financial and business organizations, or potential business partners.
Prospection and networking
- Engage in proactive business prospection and networking to identify leads for Luxembourg’s ecosystem and targeted outreach.
- Attend industry and networking events to build a pipeline of potential business contacts and opportunities.
- Maintain strong relationships with business networks, government agencies, and local authorities to support the market entry and growth of Luxembourg companies.
- Maintain a database of new and existing contacts.
- Assist with the organization of networking events.
Support for Official Missions, Delegations and Visits
- Assist Luxembourg government authorities, agencies, as well as public, private, academic, and research organizations in establishing and expanding their networks and organizing missions and visits within LTIO-SF’s jurisdiction, providing both content and logistical support.
Requirements/qualification
- University diploma or higher in business administration, international business, economics, finance, international relations, political science, public policy, economic development, entrepreneurship, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in trade, investment, business development, or entrepreneurship (preferably in the U.S.).
- Strong understanding of business environments and industry trends in North America and Europe.
- Excellent networking, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment with autonomy and a strong sense of initiative.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
- Experience and a strong network in the U.S. startup, innovation, and investment ecosystem are valuable assets.
- Candidates must hold a valid work permit for the United States.
